DOF Modernizes Fleet with Six-Vessel Deal
Norwegian offshore vessel operator DOF Group has announced a major fleet optimization program involving the sale of four Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs) and the acquisition of two new Construction Support Vessels (CSVs). The transactions are part of the company’s long-term strategy to modernize its fleet and strengthen its position in the offshore energy sector.
The four PSVs being sold are Skandi Mongstad (2008), Skandi Flora (2009), Skandi Feistein (2011), and Skandi Kvitsøy (2012). Delivery to the new owner is expected during the third quarter of 2026. DOF will continue managing the vessels and retain a minority ownership interest in the acquiring company.
At the same time, DOF is acquiring two high-specification Construction Support Vessels currently under construction in China. Each vessel will be equipped with a 250-ton offshore crane and is designed for subsea construction, inspection, maintenance, and renewable energy projects.
The company stated that these transactions represent another step in its fleet high-grading strategy, focusing on advanced offshore support vessels capable of serving the growing subsea and offshore wind markets. The new CSVs are expected to provide greater operational flexibility and improve DOF’s competitiveness in complex offshore operations.
In addition to the vessel transactions, DOF also provided an update regarding Skandi Amazonas, which has been declared a constructive total loss following an earlier incident. The insurance settlement related to the vessel is expected to further strengthen the company’s financial position while supporting continued investment in modern offshore assets.
For the offshore industry, the announcement reflects a broader trend toward replacing older supply vessels with more capable construction support ships, as demand for subsea services and offshore energy projects continues to grow worldwide.
