Chemical tanker is a type of tanker designed for transporting chemicals in bulk. According to the provisions of Appendix II to Marpol, chemical tanker means a vessel designed or assembled for the carriage in bulk of any rare product listed in Chapter 17 of the International Liquid Liquids Code chemicals.[1] In addition to industrial chemicals and pure petroleum products, such vessels often transport other types of sensitive goods that require a high level of tank cleaning, such as palm oil.
