The Singapore-flagged oil tanker MTM Key West and the Paraguayan tug Impala San Antonio reportedly collided on 18 September in Argentina’s Talavera Channel, near Vuelta Mala.
According to the available account, the incident occurred at approximately kilometre 193 of the channel. Impala San Antonio was travelling from Corrientes to Asunción, while MTM Key West was sailing from San Lorenzo to Nueva Palmira, Uruguay, where cargo operations were planned.
Following the collision, the tanker continued its voyage and anchored near Nueva Palmira. The tug berthed at Zárate, Argentina.
No information has been released about damage to either vessel, injuries or possible pollution. The circumstances of the collision also remain unclear.
