Norwegian offshore technology company Reach Subsea has exercised the first option granted by Kongsberg Maritime, placing an order for two additional uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) — Reach Remote 3 and Reach Remote 4. Delivery is scheduled for the second half of 2027, with contract terms remaining confidential.
The company had already placed an order for its first two uncrewed USVs in 2022. Those vessels were delivered earlier in 2025 and are now in commercial operation.
-
Reach Remote 1 is currently completing a series of fully remotely operated offshore missions off the coast of Norway for Equinor, TotalEnergies, and Shell.
-
Reach Remote 2 is en route to Australia to begin work for Woodside Energy.
The specifications of the third and fourth vessels will largely mirror those of the first pair, with targeted adjustments based on operational feedback and the company’s technology qualification program.
Project financing has been secured through DNB, Sparebank, and EKSFIN. Reach Subsea’s total investment in the four USVs amounts to approximately NOK 620 million ($62.5 million USD), with two-thirds of the sum covered by bank financing.
