Saipem completes Yellowtail subsea project in Guyana for ExxonMobil
Saipem has announced the successful completion of its scope of work at the Yellowtail oil field, operated by ExxonMobil Guyana Ltd.. The field is located in the Stabroek Block offshore Guyana, at a depth of around 1,800 meters.
Awarded in 2022, the contract included engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of the SURF system (subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines).
-
In early 2024, the flagship pipelaying vessel FDS2 carried out the installation of a rigid flowline and lazy-wave steel risers.
-
In 2025, the vessel Saipem Constellation completed the installation of flexible risers, umbilicals, and the tie-in of a pre-laid rigid riser to the FPSO (floating production, storage, and offloading unit).
-
Additionally, from mid-2024, the chartered multifunctional vessel Normand Samson performed subsea pre-commissioning, surveys, light construction activities, and installation of flowline jumpers fabricated at Saipem’s Georgetown yard.
The completion of the Yellowtail project reinforces Saipem’s position as a leading contractor in deepwater development and subsea engineering.
