A fire aboard the cruise ship MS Amadea prompted the evacuation of 320 passengers while the vessel was berthed at the Port of Rønne on the Danish island of Bornholm.
Emergency services received the fire alarm at approximately 07:21 local time on September 14. The blaze reportedly started in a linen storage area connected to the ship’s laundry facilities.
Bornholm Police, the local fire service and the Danish Emergency Management Agency were dispatched to the port. Passengers were moved from the affected deck to another safe area aboard the vessel while firefighters and the ship’s crew responded to the incident.
The fire was brought under control and extinguished by approximately 07:31, just ten minutes after the initial alarm. No injuries were reported, and authorities confirmed that all passengers and crew members were safe.
Emergency officials praised the cooperation between the MS Amadea crew, the Port of Rønne and the responding services. Their coordinated actions helped contain the fire quickly and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the ship.
The exact cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed and remains under investigation. The extent of the damage to the laundry area was also not immediately reported.
MS Amadea is operated by German cruise company Phoenix Reisen. At the time of the incident, the vessel was sailing on a 12-night round-trip cruise from Bremerhaven. Following the emergency response and necessary inspections, the ship was able to continue its voyage.
