Construction of Hungary’s first seaport has begun in Trieste, Italy. The $209 million project is being implemented by state-owned Adria Port Zrt on a 32-hectare site that Budapest acquired in 2019
The port will be able to handle 78,000 TEU containers per year and accommodate passenger ships. Construction is scheduled to last until 2028, and the berthing line will reach 650 m
Hungary plans to use the port to improve exports, as most of its goods are shipped by sea. A modern logistics center will be opened at the port to optimize logistics.
