Norwegian company Olympic has ordered two state-of-the-art offshore construction vessels from China Merchants Heavy Industry in Shenzhen.
The new vessels will be the most energy-efficient in their class and will enter service in summer 2027, Olympic owner Stig Remøy said. They will be used in both the renewable energy sector and the oil and gas industry.
The new vessels are based on the Kongsberg Maritime UT7623 SEV design and, according to Olympic, will “significantly exceed the Paris Agreement” on environmental requirements.
*We are committed to environmentally friendly and climate-friendly ships, and this project is another important milestone. These vessels will set a new standard in energy efficiency and leave a minimal carbon footprint, stressed Stig Remøy.*
