On March 31, in the Gulf of Oder, near the island of Chełminek (Poland), a collision occurred between the passenger ship Junker Jörg and the inland tanker Argonaut
As a result of the collision, Junker Jörg suffered serious damage to the bow above the waterline, while Argonaut escaped with minor damage. Despite the accident, no fuel leaks or water ingress were recorded on board either vessel
It is reported that of the 97 passengers on board Junker Jörg, nine people were injured, and one victim with a head injury was taken to hospital
After the incident, both vessels independently reached the port of Szczecin (Poland), where they were moored. Authorities have launched an investigation to establish the cause of the collision. The crews of both vessels were tested for alcohol, the results of which were negative
Junker Jörg will have to undergo repairs before returning to service.
