Turkey’s Directorate General of Coastal Safety (KEGM) said that on 25 November the bulk carrier Ata 1, en route from Bodrum to Ukraine, suffered an equipment failure off Çanakkale (Kumkale). Authorities reported no injuries and no marine pollution.

Under the coordination of the Çanakkale Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) Center, the ship was secured and safely towed to the Bozcaada anchorage with support from the tug Kurtarma 14.

Ata 1 was built in 2006 and sails under the Panama flag. The vessel is 118.6 metres long and 16.2 metres wide.
