Sallaum Lines has launched its first newly built pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) powered by dual-fuel LNG engines — the Ocean Breeze. The launch ceremony took place at the Port of Antwerp.
The Ocean Breeze can carry 7,500 CEU and is equipped with dual-fuel LNG propulsion systems that significantly reduce CO₂, NOx, and particulate matter emissions compared to conventional vessels. Its optimized hull design and energy-saving devices further enhance fuel efficiency.
To accommodate its growing fleet, Sallaum Terminal Antwerp recently completed a $23.5 million (20 million euro)expansion. The terminal’s capacity has increased from 10,000 to 17,000 CEU thanks to a new multi-level parking facility and upgraded quay infrastructure, enabling the simultaneous handling of up to four RoRo vessels.
The upgraded terminal also provides enhanced capabilities for pre-delivery inspection, breakbulk handling, warehousing, and intermodal transport, ensuring faster and more reliable services for OEM manufacturers.
The Ocean Breeze is the first of six LNG dual-fuel PCTCs set to join the Sallaum Lines fleet by 2027, adding over 45,000 CEU of capacity and further strengthening the company’s position among the world’s leading RoRo carriers.
As part of its green logistics strategy, Sallaum Lines is also preparing to implement onshore power supply and solar energy facilities at its Antwerp terminal, reinforcing its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2030.
“Ocean Breeze is not only about capacity, but also about building a cleaner and more sustainable supply chain for decades to come. Our clients value scale, reliability, and sustainability — and Ocean Breeze proves we can deliver all three. This is not just a vessel, it’s a new chapter in automotive logistics, preparing us for the next wave of transport flows between Asia, Europe, and beyond,” said Nathalie Sallaum, Public Relations Director at Sallaum Lines.
