On the night of April 10, the 289-meter-long floating power plant KPS Orhan Ali Khan (IMO: 9248514) ran aground near the Yalova anchorage area in the Sea of Marmara. The vessel was en route from Altınova to Yalova.
Authorities quickly dispatched tugboats Nen Hatun (IMO: 9675004) and Çark (MMSI: 271043518), along with the KEGM rescue boat, divers, and salvage experts to the scene. Initial reports confirm that there were no injuries, though further details have not yet been disclosed.
KPS Orhan Ali Khan is one of the largest floating power generation ships in the world. Originally built as a dry cargo vessel, it was acquired and converted into a marine power plant by Karadeniz Powership in 2015.
