Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Chairman Osama Rabie said canal revenues totaled $449 million from 1 January to 8 February 2026, pointing to a strong rebound in performance as regional conditions stabilized.

During the period, 1,315 vessels transited the canal, representing a combined 56 million net tons, compared with 1,243 vessels, 47 million net tons, and $368 million in revenue over the same window in 2025. Rabie presented the figures during the opening of the 15th International Maritime Transport and Logistics Conference (MARLOG).

SCA data for the first half of FY2025/26 showed further improvement: vessel transits increased by 5.8%, net tonnage rose by 16%, and revenues climbed by 18.5% versus the previous fiscal year.

Rabie described 2024 as a “year of tests” due to disruptions to Red Sea shipping, but said the recovery gained momentum toward the end of 2025.

He added that the Suez Canal has been repositioning itself as a modern logistics system through a broad digital transformation, highlighting resilience through multiple crises — including the pandemic, the Ever Given grounding, the Russia–Ukraine war, and recent tensions in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Under SCA’s 2030 strategy, the authority said it has completed development works in the canal’s southern sector, improved navigational safety, and upgraded marine services such as crew changes, medical support vessels, and salvage capabilities, recently showcased during the rescue of the Fener crew.
