A crew member aboard Princess Cruises’ Regal Princess has died after going overboard while the vessel was sailing in the Caribbean Sea near Cancún, Mexico.
Following the emergency report, the ship’s captain immediately stopped the vessel and initiated a search and rescue operation. Mexican maritime authorities responded to the scene, and the nearby cruise ship Carnival Jubilee also assisted in the search.
After several hours of searching, the crew member was located but was pronounced deceased. The identity of the victim, their position on board, and the circumstances surrounding the incident have not been officially released.
Princess Cruises stated that support is being provided to the crew and passengers affected by the tragedy. The company is cooperating with the relevant authorities as the investigation into the incident continues.
After the search operation concluded, Regal Princess resumed its scheduled voyage. The exact cause of the incident remains under investigation.
