Caribe Tankers USA, Inc. (CTU) has begun trials of Inmarsat’s NexusWave, a fully managed satellite connectivity solution, aboard its chemical tankers Caribe Maria and Caribe Luna, aiming to improve operational communications and enhance crew experience.
Developed by Inmarsat Maritime, a Viasat company, NexusWave merges multiple network paths into a single, managed platform. This innovative approach allows vessels to combine the bandwidth of all available networks, providing consistent high-speed internet, global coverage, and unlimited data — whether sailing in open waters or anchored in busy ports.
The solution is designed to support both ship operations and crew welfare by enabling uninterrupted onboard connectivity. This aligns with Caribe Tankers’ goal of attracting and retaining top maritime talent by ensuring reliable access to communication tools and contact with home.
The decision to trial NexusWave reflects CTU’s commitment to secure, resilient connectivity — now considered a vital component of safe and efficient daily maritime operations.
