Spanish shipbuilder GONDAN has launched a 120-metre Ocean Energy Support Vessel (OESV) for Norwegian shipowner Østensjø Rederi.
The vessel, currently known as C513, was launched on 10 September at GONDAN’s shipyard in Figueras. It is the largest vessel ever built by the Spanish yard and the 23rd vessel constructed by GONDAN for Østensjø Rederi.
During the coming months, the OESV will undergo its final outfitting phase while afloat, followed by sea trials in preparation for its scheduled delivery at the end of 2027.
Designed by Norwegian company Salt Ship Design, the vessel will support a wide range of offshore energy operations. Its capabilities include walk-to-work services, offshore wind CSOV support, marine construction, subsea installation, ROV inspection operations, and cable laying and repair.
The vessel features a diesel-electric propulsion system with six variable-speed main engines and Brunvoll permanent-magnet azimuth thrusters.
Several advanced decarbonisation technologies have also been incorporated into the design, including battery systems and shore power capability. A future-fuel-ready notation will allow the vessel to operate on cleaner alternative fuels such as methanol (MeOH) following the necessary modifications.
The new OESV offers 1,400 square metres of open deck space, including a hangar, and can accommodate up to 173 people.
The launch marks another significant milestone in the long-standing partnership between GONDAN and Østensjø Rederi and moves the ship into the final stages of construction.
