On July 1, the offshore drilling rig Adam Marine 12 capsized in the Gulf of Suez, north of Egypt’s Red Sea Governorate. The incident occurred while the rig was being towed by three offshore tugs to a new operational site at the Ashrafi field.

A distress signal was received by the Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company, prompting an immediate response. Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Minister of Labour arrived at the scene to oversee rescue operations.

At the time of the incident, 31 people were on board, with 21 successfully rescued. The bodies of four crew members have been recovered and brought ashore. A search is still underway for six missing crew members, with Egyptian authorities deploying resources to support the ongoing rescue efforts.

The cause of the capsizing has not yet been officially determined, and authorities continue to monitor the situation closely while coordinating with relevant agencies.
