Damen to supply 24 vessels for Serco as part of Royal Navy fleet modernization program
Damen Shipyards Group has signed a contract with Serco to build 24 vessels of various types. The large order is linked to Serco’s 10-year agreement with the UK Royal Navy to provide port services at the naval bases in Clyde, Devonport, and Portsmouth.
Contract details
The agreement is part of the Royal Navy’s fleet support modernization program. Under the contract, Serco will be responsible for ship towage, personnel transport, barge and fuel tank cleaning, and ensuring continuity of port support services.
In this project, Damen acts as subcontractor to Serco. The order includes:

ASD Tug and RSD Tug series tugs,

pilot boats,

barges and crane barges.
The new vessels will replace the aging auxiliary fleet currently in service.
Delivery and support

Deliveries will begin in 2027 and be completed in 2028.

Damen’s UK service unit will provide warranty support, spare parts supply, and crew training.
Background
This is not Serco’s first major order from Damen: in 2007, the company placed an order for 29 vessels with the Dutch shipbuilder.
