The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is investigating an unusual international smuggling operation after discovering 370 kilograms of наркотics concealed inside a diesel generator shipped from Mexico through Malaysia.
The suspicious cargo was intercepted at Port Botany following an X-ray inspection. Over the course of three days, specialists dismantled the industrial generator and uncovered hidden compartments packed with drugs inside the engine cylinders.
According to AFP, the shipment contained:
- cocaine;
- methamphetamine;
- MDMA;
- and so-called “pink cocaine” 2CB.
Investigators believe the cargo was intended for multiple organized criminal groups operating across Australia.
Authorities are now searching for individuals who may have been connected to the storage, transport, or requested repair work involving the diesel generator after its arrival.
AFP separately confirmed the arrest of an alleged organizer of an internal smuggling network operating through Port Botany. Investigators claim the suspect coordinated shipments of up to 500 kilograms of drugs and paid accomplices as much as $140,000 per operation.
Australian authorities described the case as one of the most unusual drug concealment methods uncovered in recent years.
