Equipment failure on LPG tanker Gas Catalina near the Dardanelles — vessel towed to Dark Harbor

Turkey’s Coast Guard Command reported on November 29 that the LPG tanker Gas Catalina suffered an equipment failure near the Çanakkale Strait (Dardanelles), in the Dark Harbor area. Authorities confirmed there were no injuries and no environmental pollution as a result of the incident.

 

Following the malfunction, assistance was coordinated under the Çanakkale Vessel Traffic Services (VTS). With a pilot captain on board and under escort, the tanker was safely towed by tug Rescue-19 and anchored in Dark Harbor without further issues.

 

Gas Catalina is an LPG carrier built in 1998 and sailing under the flag of Palau. The vessel is 118.88 meters long and 17.2 meters wide.
