On August 14, the 21-meter fishing vessel Henriette Due suffered an emergency in the Kattegat, approximately four nautical miles southwest of the Trubaduren Lighthouse off Sweden.
A leak developed in the vessel’s engine room, causing an uncontrolled ingress of water. The onboard pumps were unable to cope with the amount of water entering the vessel, putting Henriette Due at risk of flooding.
The two crew members issued a distress call, prompting a joint response involving Swedish and Danish rescue services.
The 16.5-meter Danish search and rescue vessel Morten Stage (IMO: 9170559), an SSRS rescue vessel and a rescue helicopter were dispatched to the scene.
Rescue teams brought additional pumping equipment aboard Henriette Due and managed to bring the water ingress under control, preventing the situation from developing into a more serious flooding incident.
The 16.5-meter, 36-tonne vessel Lars Kruse (IMO: 9217515) later arrived from Skagen and took Henriette Due under tow.
The fishing vessel was subsequently towed safely back to Skagen, Denmark.
No injuries were reported among the two crew members of Henriette Due.
