Yacht Ramonda sank after fire in Montenegro
A serious incident occurred in the yacht marina of Portonovi (Montenegro) on March 27 — the yacht Ramonda was destroyed by fire and sank. According to preliminary data, there were no casualties, and a possible oil spill was quickly localized with booms
According to CREW ARIA, the fire started at about 18:00 local time, when the vessel was at the berth. The Herceg Novi Rescue Service arrived at the scene with two fire engines, but the fire had already spread to the interior of the yacht.
After unsuccessful attempts to localize the fire in the harbor, at 19:50 the vessel was towed out to sea to prevent damage to other vessels and the port infrastructure. However, due to the intense fire, rescue became impossible, and soon Ramonda sunk
There were about 8,000 liters of fuel on board, but thanks to the installed oil booms, pollution was avoided. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway, but at this time the exact circumstances of the incident remain unknown.
