On 11 December, the Norwegian-flag ro-ro passenger ferry Ternen experienced a technical malfunction and collided with a shore-side building on the island of Herføl. There were 7 passengers and 5 crew on board, and no injuries were reported.
The incident occurred at around 09:30 local time as the ferry was arriving at the island. According to reports, Ternen missed the designated unloading point on the starboard side and struck a shop located in a building that previously served as Herføl’s old post office. The structure sustained damage to its walls and roof, while the extent of damage to the vessel has not yet been confirmed.
Local police dispatched a patrol to investigate. After the impact, all passengers and crew disembarked safely, and the ferry was pulled clear of the building with tug assistance. Operator Norled initially suspended the ferry service but later resumed operations.
Ternen is a Norwegian-flag ferry measuring 29.11 m in length and 9.1 m in beam.
