On April 26, the container ship Med Beykoz suffered a main engine failure off Akbash in the Dardanelles Strait.

 

According to Turkish coastal authorities, no injuries or environmental pollution were reported.

 

The operation was coordinated by the Canakkale Vessel Traffic Services (VTS).

 

A pilot was assigned to the vessel, while tugboats Kurtarma-15, Kurtarma-20, and Kurtarma-4 were deployed to assist.

 

The vessel was successfully towed and anchored at Karanlik Liman anchorage area.

 

Med Beykoz is a Turkey-flagged container ship built in 1994, with a capacity of 2,604 TEU, a length of 202.8 meters, and a beam of 30.6 meters.
