Dutch marine construction company Van Oord has won a contract for the subsea rock installation at the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms in Poland.
The contract covers the procurement, transportation and protection of the seabed around the wind turbine foundations and offshore substations, as well as the route of the interconnector cables and cables connecting the wind farms to the Polish grid.
Jointly developed by Equinor and Polenergia, the Bałtyk 2 and 3 offshore wind farms will have a combined capacity of 1.44 GW.
The new contract for Van Oord expands the company’s portfolio in the Polish offshore wind market, providing monopile installation work for the 1.5 GW Baltica 2, developed by Ørsted and PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, and the 1.2 GW Baltic Power, developed by ORLEN and Northland Power.
