Karpowership sells Newcastlemax tanker to Winning Shipping
Turkish company Karpowership has unexpectedly sold the Newcastlemax-class tanker Karadeniz Powership Rauf Osman Bey, which it had acquired only a few months ago.
Normally, vessels purchased by Karpowership are converted into floating power plants. However, this was not the case for this ship. Built 15 years ago by Universal, the bulk carrier was previously known as HL Frontier. It was purchased in February 2025 for $32.5 million and has now been sold to Winning Shipping for $33.5 million.
Winning Shipping, the world’s largest bauxite shipper, is actively expanding its fleet. The acquisition of Karadeniz Powership Rauf Osman Bey marks the company’s fifth vessel purchase in 2025. Its fleet now totals 56 ships.
