Norwegian offshore vessel and marine construction company DOF Group has secured a contract from grid operator Statnett to replace subsea power cables in northern Norway, further strengthening its order book in the offshore construction segment.
The Oslo-listed company said the deal, classified as a substantial contract and valued at between $25 million and $50 million, covers the replacement of high-voltage power cables across Ofotfjorden.
The scope of work includes the partial removal of the existing cable system between Lødingen and Barøya, as well as the installation of four new 170 kV subsea power cables integrated with fiber-optic lines.
Offshore operations are scheduled to take place over a 40-day period between May and September 2027, using one of DOF’s marine construction vessels. The offshore campaign will be supported by survey work, logistics, and onshore preparations throughout 2026 and 2027.
DOF Group CEO Mons Aase said the contract highlights continued demand for complex subsea services tied to critical infrastructure projects.
Preparatory work, including engineering and procurement, is set to begin immediately at the company’s bases in Norway and Scotland.
The project is expected to contribute to the modernization of regional power infrastructure and improve the reliability of electricity transmission in northern Norway.
