China’s Dajin Heavy Industry and Germany’s Briese Schiffahrts have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish an international offshore wind hub at the Port of Cuxhaven, built around a new terminal spanning more than 20 hectares.
The partnership combines Dajin’s fleet of heavy deck carriers with Briese’s global shipping network to provide integrated services for offshore wind, including staging and marshalling of wind components, heavy-lift transportation, and end-to-end logistics support. Local authorities highlighted Cuxhaven’s strategic position on Germany’s North Sea coast and its capacity to handle high-throughput offshore wind projects, aligning with the country’s broader energy transition goals.
Briese operates a fleet of more than 130 multi-purpose heavy-lift vessels, while Dajin is building its own logistics system to support global operations. Construction of the first phase is already underway and includes four vessels, with longer-term plans to expand the fleet to 10–20 ultra-large heavy deck transport ships of various sizes.
