A serious maritime incident occurred on 14 July when the chemical tanker Stolt Magnesium suffered an explosion while transiting the Arabian Sea off the coast of Oman. According to the vessel’s operator, Stolt Tankers, the explosion was caused by an unidentified external device, which triggered a fire in the engine room.
The crew immediately initiated emergency response procedures and began fighting the fire. The company confirmed that all seafarers were accounted for and no injuries were reported. Families of the crew have also been informed, while the vessel’s operator is working with the relevant authorities to secure both the ship and its cargo.
