Aurora Offshore, the offshore shipping arm of Borealis Maritime, has secured a long-term contract for one of its platform supply vessels.
According to brokers, the Aurora Cooper, built in 2021, has been fixed to Harbor Energy on a six-month charter with extension options. The charter commences this month.
The Aurora Cooper is a dual-fuel hybrid LNG-powered PSV with battery capabilities. It will support the semi-submersible drilling rig Transocean Norge as part of Harbor Energy’s drilling campaign in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea. Day rates have not been disclosed.
The vessel joins its sister ship Aurora Coey under the management of the Kristiansand-based company, which commercially operates around 25 PSVs.
Last year, Borealis, in partnership with Cyprus-based shipowner and fund manager Pelagic Partners, acquired Swedish operator Viking Supply Ships from Christen Sveaas, expanding its offshore presence.
In related fixture news, the Island Contender, built in 2012 and owned by Island Offshore, will also be working for Harbor Energy on the same rig for about 220 days starting in January, under an agreement that includes options of up to 18 months.
