On Tuesday, the British maritime security firm Ambrey reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched a drone attack on targets in Port Sudan, striking container terminals and civilian infrastructure. According to the company, video footage captured significant damage, leaving the city without power and causing GPS disruptions, though commercial vessels reportedly remain unharmed.
Eyewitnesses described explosions and fires in Port Sudan, the country’s main seaport, where the attacks over several days have destroyed major fuel depots and damaged a critical hub for international aid delivery.
Since April 2023, Sudan has been gripped by a conflict between the army and the RSF, sparked by a dispute over a transition to civilian rule. According to the United Nations, the crisis has displaced over 12 million people and pushed nearly half of the population into severe hunger.
