Ukraine has announced one of the largest maritime drone campaigns since the beginning of the full-scale war. According to the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces, around 90 Russian vessels were damaged between July 6 and July 12 during a series of strikes in the Sea of Azov.
The reported targets included oil tankers, tugboats, cargo ships, ferries, and logistics vessels involved in supplying Russian forces. Ukrainian officials stated that several vessels were struck more than once during the operation.
The most intensive attacks reportedly took place during the final days of the campaign. According to Ukrainian statements, more than 28 vessels were hit in a single day, followed by additional strikes on tankers and ferries near the Kerch area.
Ukraine says the objective of the operation was to disrupt Russian military logistics and fuel supply routes in the region. Following the reported attacks, Russia temporarily restricted vessel movements in parts of the Sea of Azov and nearby shipping routes, potentially affecting regional maritime traffic.
If the reported figures are confirmed, the operation would represent one of the largest coordinated maritime drone campaigns of the conflict, highlighting the increasing role of unmanned systems in modern naval warfare.
At the time of publication, the reported number of damaged vessels has not been independently verified. Assessments from the Ukrainian and Russian sides differ, and information continues to be updated.
