Turkish authorities have successfully refloated the oil tanker QENDIL after the vessel ran aground off Bozcaada in northwestern Türkiye, the Directorate General of Coastal Safety (KEGM) reported.
The 249-metre tanker grounded on 4 January near the Bozcaada anchorage area amid adverse weather. KEGM said the ship was in ballast at the time and no marine pollution was observed.
The refloating operation involved KEGM’s emergency response vessel NENE HATUN, the salvage tug GEMİ KURTARAN, tugs KURTARMA-16 and KURTARMA-17, and KEGM boats supporting the effort under the coordination of salvage specialists.
