In the early hours of March 18, a 20-ton fishing vessel ran aground in the Yellow Sea near Mohan Port (Sowon-myeon, South Korea).
According to available information, the vessel was attempting to enter the harbor when it struck a reef. The South Korean Coast Guard responded promptly and successfully rescued all 11 crew members. No injuries have been reported.
Following the rescue operation, the vessel was refloated and towed to a safe location near Mohan Port.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the extent of the damage. Preliminary reports suggest that human factors may have contributed to the incident, with one crew member reportedly falling asleep during navigation while engaged in fishing operations.
The incident once again highlights the critical importance of proper watchkeeping and fatigue management, especially during maneuvering in coastal waters.
