Princess Cruises, part of Carnival Corporation, has officially taken delivery of its new cruise ship Star Princess, powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), from the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. The handover ceremony took place on September 26.
Sailing under the flag of Bermuda, the vessel measures 345 meters in length, 48 meters in beam, and has a gross tonnage of approximately 178,000 GT. It is a sister ship to the Sun Princess, delivered in February 2024.
The Star Princess accommodates around 4,300 guests and 1,600 crew members. Built on a next-generation platform, the ship is equipped with advanced systems designed for maximum energy efficiency at sea.
This is the 17th cruise ship in the Princess Cruises fleet. Following delivery, the vessel will sail to Barcelona, where on October 4 it will embark on its maiden 11-day Western Mediterranean cruise.
The ship will then operate a series of 7-day Mediterranean voyages before making a transatlantic crossing to its new homeport, Port Everglades (USA), arriving on November 7.
From Port Everglades, the Star Princess will offer a program of 7- and 14-day cruises to the Eastern and Western Caribbean through mid-April 2026.
On April 13, 2026, the ship will depart on a 20-day Panama Canal cruise to Seattle, where it will spend the summer season operating 7-day itineraries through Alaska’s Inside Passage. In October 2026, the vessel will return to Port Everglades to kick off its winter cruise season.
