Bursa Metropolitan Municipality reported a fire on board the Yildirim Beyazid passenger ship belonging to Bursa Sea Buses (BUDO) during a scheduled service from Eminönü to Mudanya on April 6
The fire broke out at around 19:50 local time due to a technical malfunction in one of the engines. The crew responded quickly to the incident and brought the fire under control. There were no casualties in the incident
After the fire, the ship encountered adverse weather conditions, including waves up to three meters. Despite this, the captain managed to safely bring the ship to Mudanya pier using one working engine. All passengers were evacuated upon arrival on shore
A technical investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the fire. BUDO representatives emphasized that passenger safety remains their priority and promised to strengthen monitoring of the technical condition of the fleet.
