Nearly two months after a major onboard fire while alongside at Yusen Terminal in the Port of Los Angeles, the 8,212-TEU container ship ONE Henry Hudson has left LA and is now proceeding across the Pacific for repairs at an unspecified shipyard in Asia.
In a customer advisory, Ocean Network Express (ONE) confirmed that the cargo discharge operation was completed on Monday, 19 January 2026. The discharged containers have been placed in designated yard areas at Yusen Terminal, and cargo interests have been instructed to complete General Average requirements (e.g., providing security) before release.
Los Angeles Fire Department reporting on the incident said the fire burned on multiple sub-levels below deck and was difficult to access. At around 8:00 p.m., a mid-ship explosion led to a loss of power, affecting onboard lighting and crane operations. Due to the severity and risks to port operations, the vessel was moved offshore (outside the breakwater) to continue firefighting and cooling efforts.
