today at 11:44 0

OMS Group announced a financing package totalling $1.0315 billion on November 3, 2026. The package will support the company’s growth, including investment in four new fibre-optic cable-laying vessels.

Not all of the announced amount has reached financial close. According to the company, the package comprises $911.5 million in corporate facilities, trade facilities and export credit agency-backed term loans, plus $120 million in additional trade facilities still pending financial close. Four new vessels for subsea networks

The new cable-laying vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2027 and 2028.

According to Data Center Dynamics, CS Genesis and CS Triumph are under construction in Haiphong, Vietnam, with delivery targeted for 2027 and 2028 respectively. Two further vessels, CS Resilience and CS Alliance, are being built in Gdynia, Poland, with both scheduled for delivery in 2028.

How the financing is structured

The vessel investment will be supported by the export credit agency-backed portion of the package, with backing from Atradius Dutch State Business and Export Finance Norway, known as Eksfin.

HSBC Singapore and Standard Chartered acted as joint global coordinators, bookrunners and ECA coordinators. KKR Capital Markets served as corporate adviser.

OMS Group reported that both the corporate and ECA-backed facilities were more than twice oversubscribed. The company links its investment plans to growing demand for subsea connectivity driven by cloud computing, artificial intelligence and data centre development. Source: OMS Group

What it means for the maritime industry

For the maritime and offshore sectors, the project illustrates how digital infrastructure development creates demand for specialised vessels. Installing subsea telecommunications cables requires ships equipped to carry out complex marine installation work.

The planned additions will increase OMS Group’s installation capacity once the vessels enter service. The next milestones are financial close for the remaining facilities and delivery of the four newbuilds within the announced schedule.
