Swedish offshore survey company Njord Survey has signed a three-year framework agreement with RWE Offshore Wind to conduct underwater surveys at offshore wind farms in the UK and other European waters.
The work will be performed using remotely operated vehicles — ROVs. These systems will collect data on the condition of subsea infrastructure and support the maintenance of RWE’s offshore energy assets.
The financial value of the contract and the specific wind farms covered by the agreement have not been disclosed. Individual survey campaigns will be carried out as required during the three-year period.
Njord Survey has extensive experience in the offshore wind sector. According to the company, its teams have surveyed more than 23 complete offshore wind farm areas, performing subsea inspections and collecting high-resolution data.
Environmental performance will be an important part of the new agreement. Njord Survey plans to conduct carbon-neutral offshore survey campaigns, combining lower emissions from specialised vessels with high standards of operational safety and data quality.
Njord Survey Project Director Philip Ljungström said the agreement confirms the company’s position as a trusted partner to the offshore wind industry and will allow it to continue delivering accurate, high-resolution data through low-emission vessel operations.
CEO Martin Wikmar added that the long-term cooperation with RWE will strengthen Njord Survey’s position in the offshore wind market. The demand for regular underwater inspections continues to grow as more wind farms enter operation and existing subsea infrastructure requires ongoing monitoring.
