The maritime industry continues to modernize its communication systems, and one of the latest developments is the launch of the Intellian C100M GMDSS terminal. Designed for commercial vessels operating under SOLAS requirements, the new system offers a compact solution for satellite distress and safety communications through the Iridium Certus 100 network.
The C100M provides all core GMDSS functions, including distress alerts, emergency voice communication, Maritime Safety Information (MSI), Ship Security Alert System (SSAS), and Long-Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT). Thanks to the global coverage of the Iridium satellite network, the terminal can be used almost anywhere in the world, including polar regions.
One of the biggest advantages of the new terminal is its compact design. Compared to previous generations, the C100M integrates more components into a single unit, making installation easier and reducing the amount of equipment required on board. For many vessels, existing cabling from older GMDSS installations can also be reused, helping operators reduce upgrade costs and minimize installation time.
The launch expands Intellian’s portfolio of Iridium GMDSS solutions and provides shipowners with another option when upgrading communication equipment to meet modern safety standards.
