MSC Cruises has floated out its new LNG-powered cruise ship MSC World Atlantic, currently under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France. The vessel has a gross tonnage of 215,863 GT.

The ship touched the water for the first time on September 26 after leaving the Forme B construction dock. It was subsequently transferred to Basin C, where outfitting work will continue while the vessel remains afloat.

The next stage will focus on completing the interiors and public areas, as well as installing and commissioning the remaining technical systems. Delivery to MSC Cruises is scheduled for 2027.

MSC World Atlantic measures 333.3 metres in length and 47 metres in width. It will feature 2,626 cabins and accommodate up to 6,762 passengers.

The vessel will become the 25th ship in the MSC Cruises fleet and the fourth LNG-powered cruise ship in the company’s World Class series. It is also the fourth of eight World Class vessels ordered by MSC Cruises from Chantiers de l’Atlantique.

The first vessel in the series, MSC World Europa, was delivered in 2022. MSC World America entered the fleet in 2025, while MSC World Asia is scheduled for delivery in 2026.

MSC World Atlantic is expected to begin commercial operations in November 2027. The ship will be based at Port Canaveral, Florida, and operate alternating 7- and 14-night cruises across the eastern and western Caribbean.

Its itineraries will also include calls at Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, MSC Cruises’ private marine reserve in the Bahamas.
