A large tourist vessel, Big Boss Diamond, designed in the style of a pirate ship, has sunk in the Mediterranean Sea near the Turkish resort city of Marmaris.
At the time of the incident, the vessel was carrying nearly 150 passengers, including children. According to preliminary reports, the ship began taking on water and started to sink, forcing some passengers to jump into the sea while awaiting rescue.
The Turkish Coast Guard, rescue teams, and nearby boats responded quickly to the emergency. Thanks to their coordinated efforts, all passengers were safely evacuated. Authorities reported that a major loss of life was avoided, although several people were treated for minor injuries and shock.
The Big Boss Diamond was a popular tourist attraction in the Marmaris area, offering daily sightseeing cruises along Turkey’s picturesque coastline. Its pirate-themed design made it especially popular among families and holidaymakers.
Turkish authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the sinking. Experts are examining possible technical failures, hull damage, and operational factors that may have contributed to the incident.
The accident has once again highlighted the importance of maritime safety standards for passenger vessels, particularly during the busy summer tourist season when excursion boats operate at maximum capacity.
