Hybrid Cargo Ferry Stena Futura Wins Prestigious Shippax Award for Maritime Innovation

Stena Futura, the hybrid cargo ferry operated by Stena Line, has been honored with the prestigious Shippax RoRo Award 2026. The vessel was recognized as one of the most innovative next-generation RoRo (roll-on/roll-off) ships, highlighting Stena Line’s continued commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.

The award, presented by leading maritime publication Shippax, recognizes vessels that set new benchmarks in ship design, environmental performance, and transport efficiency.

Strengthening a Key UK–Ireland Freight Route

Stena Futura entered service on the Belfast–Heysham route in September 2025.

The vessel is the first of two new hybrid freight ferries, alongside its sister ship Stena Connecta.
