On 10 September, the 50-metre dredger Anke suffered an engine failure while operating in the North Sea near the port of Wangerooge, Germany.
The vessel, identified by IMO number 8423894, was conducting dredging operations outside the harbour when its engine stopped working. With the tide falling, Anke was at risk of running aground.
German authorities were notified of the incident, and the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service, DGzRS, dispatched the 10-metre rescue vessel Fritz Thieme to assist.
After arriving at the scene, the rescue crew successfully secured a towing connection and began moving the disabled dredger towards the harbour.
Anke was safely brought into port and secured at its berth. The operation was completed without further complications.
No injuries, damage or environmental pollution were reported following the incident.
