Disney Cruise Line, the family-focused cruise operator within The Walt Disney Company, has held the naming ceremony for its newest cruise ship. The event took place at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (USA). The new vessel, officially named Disney Destiny, becomes the seventh ship in the fleet and the company’s third LNG-powered cruise ship.
The liner arrived in Florida from Eemshaven, the Netherlands, where the handover ceremony took place in mid-October. Disney Destiny is part of the Wish class and was built at the German shipyard Meyer Werft in Papenburg, following the design of Disney Wish (delivered in 2022) and Disney Treasure (delivered in 2024).
Disney Cruise Line is actively expanding its fleet and plans to reach 13 ships by 2031. The growth program includes:
-
Disney Adventure, which will be based in Singapore from March 2026,
-
a fourth Wish-class vessel scheduled for delivery in 2027,
-
a new class of cruise ships expected to debut in 2029.
Disney Destiny will be homeported at Port Everglades and will accommodate up to 4,000 passengers.
The ship is set to enter service on 20 November 2025, offering 4- to 5-night sailings to the Bahamas and the Western Caribbean.
