DFDS has agreed to acquire the ro-pax ferry Stena Vinga from Swedish operator Stena Line to strengthen its operations connecting Jersey with the United Kingdom and France.

The vessel is already operating under charter with DFDS and has been serving Jersey routes since March 2025, transporting both passengers and freight traffic.

Built in 2005, the ferry measures 125 meters in length and can carry up to 400 passengers, 200 cars, and 1,500 lane meters of cargo.

The vessel is equipped with:

  • 40 cabins
  • a restaurant
  • duty-free shop
  • cinema
  • reclining seat lounge area

DFDS stated that after completion of the transaction, the ferry will be registered under the UK flag and renamed according to the company’s naming policy.

The operator also plans to create around 70 new jobs, including trainee and apprentice positions, to support the continued growth of the service.

The deal is expected to be finalized in November 2026, after which the vessel will continue operating on the Jersey–UK and Jersey–France routes.

According to DFDS, Stena Vinga has already proven to be a reliable and efficient vessel during the charter period and will become an important part of the company’s long-term regional strategy.
