Container Barge Marco Polo 802 Grounds off Sentosa’s Tanjong Beach
On June 6, the container barge Marco Polo 802 ran aground near Tanjong Beach on Singapore’s Sentosa Island.
According to the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the barge did not suffer any structural damage. However, some protective barriers in the area were affected. The vessel remained intact, and no injuries or oil spills were reported.
Tugboats were deployed and successfully refloated the barge. Beach operations continue as normal, and the area remains open to the public.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the grounding.
