On April 22, leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD welcomed a new addition to its maritime fleet — the LNG-powered car carrier BYD Shenzhen. The vessel was built by China Merchants Industry Nanjing Jinling and delivered to the port of Yizheng in Jiangsu Province, China.
This vessel becomes the fourth in BYD’s growing car carrier fleet, joining the ranks of Explorer No.1, BYD Changzhou, and BYD Hefei.
BYD Shenzhen is a dual-fuel vessel with a capacity of 9,200 vehicles, equipped with advanced eco-friendly technologies, including high-efficiency engines, a boil-off gas (BOG) recondensation system, and specialized hull coatings that reduce drag. These features significantly improve fuel efficiency and ensure compliance with the latest IMO environmental standards.
Upon completion of loading operations, BYD Shenzhen is scheduled to depart for Brazil, further expanding BYD’s international logistics capabilities.
