Norwegian shipowner Knutsen and energy company Shell have successfully completed a large-scale joint project involving the construction of nine modern LNG carriers. The final vessel in the series, Zoe Knutsen, was officially named during a ceremony held on June 25 at the Hyundai Samho shipyard in South Korea. The vessel is scheduled for delivery in September 2025, after which it will enter long-term charter service with Shell, joining its liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier fleet. All nine LNG vessels are equipped with state-of-the-art energy-efficient technologies and optimized hull designs, making them safer, more economical, and more environmentally friendly compared to older generation ships. The collaboration between Knutsen and Shell has been described as a strategic and highly successful partnership, contributing to reduced emissions and enhanced operational efficiency in Shell’s LNG marine logistics.
