Saudi-based Zamil Offshore Services Company (ZOSCO) has taken a significant step into the Norwegian offshore market by acquiring Remøy Shipping for an undisclosed amount. The transaction also includes Rem Stadt and RS Crewing.
According to the Remøy Group, the deal secures the long-term future of Remøy Shipping after more than a century of family ownership. Founded in 1899, the company evolved from a fishing business into a modern offshore services provider. Today, it operates a fleet of eight platform supply vessels, one naval vessel, and offers a broader portfolio of commercial, technical, and crewing services.
Remøy’s owners said the sale followed a detailed review of long-term needs and market challenges, concluding that additional capital and an industrial partner were necessary to remain competitive. While several parties showed interest, ZOSCO was selected for its financial strength, long-term outlook, and extensive experience supporting offshore energy operations.
ZOSCO has served Saudi Arabia’s oil and gas sector since 1977 and has grown its fleet to more than 60 offshore vessels, including PSVs, construction units, diving support vessels, and accommodation vessels—many on long-term charter to Saudi Aramco.
ZOSCO CEO Sufyan Al Zamil described the acquisition as a key milestone as the company expands beyond the Middle East, adding that ZOSCO is proud to bring Remøy Shipping into its portfolio and aims to grow together with Remøy’s team.
For Remøy Shipping, the agreement is presented as a route to continuity and expansion in a demanding offshore market that requires ongoing investment. Under ZOSCO’s ownership, Remøy will continue operating from its existing base, remain part of Norway’s maritime cluster, and explore new opportunities within offshore energy.
